Close Finance (CI) have been working tirelessly in 2018 to support local community projects and charity events throughout the Channel Islands. Since October they have been raising money for the JSPCA’s Save Our Shelter campaign.
Rachel Scott Renouf and Elaine Miller along with other members of the Jersey team have been creating hand painted pebbles which are available from the Close Finance Conway Street office for a minimum £5 donation towards the Save Our Shelter campaign. Close Finance has already reached their £1000 target and still have many pebbles available to choose from.
After recently joining the local Facebook group Jersey Painted Rocks, which was set up earlier this year by Mariana Gouveia Silva to share hidden messages and colourful paintings around Jersey, Rachel came up with the idea to create the painted pebbles to sell with the aim of raising money for the shelter.
“The idea behind painting rocks originally came after Ruth Martin, our Operations Director and animal lover, asked me if I could think of a way to raise money to help the animal shelter. After joining Jersey Painted Rocks I thought this could be a great way of raising money and awareness for the animal shelter and also get our staff involved. We were hoping to raise £200, however, the rocks have been very popular and we have now raised over £1000 so far, with more being purchased every day.”
The JSPCA announced their Save our Shelter campaign in early October stating, “Without the support of our local community we wouldn’t be able to continue our vital work for the animals of Jersey.”
Since then over £13,000 has been raised for the local charity through their Just Giving fundraising page from over 350 supporters. Close Finance is proud to have contributed their support and donations, and will be continuing to create the pebbles until the end of November, with them available to buy in December until they run out.
