The Channel Islands Coop is proud to announce it has supported an incredible 15 projects in Jersey in its first distribution of funding in 2023, donating a total of £13,701 across Jersey as part of its Community Fund.

Each local project has been specifically chosen by the Coop due to the outstanding impact its having on improving local communities. This is the Coop’s third year of running its Community Fund, following successful first and second years where an overall total of £156,880 has been donated to 157 projects and initiatives.

This first pay-out of 2023 goes to demonstrate the Coop’s ongoing commitment to making a real difference to the communities it serves and through the campaign has transformed hundreds of lives.

Recipients of the first round of funding for this year included charities such as James Ark, a project to support families going through separation and divorce to make the right decisions for their children. The funding will allow James Ark to run a 5-week course, that is recognised and recommended by the family courts, while parents are going through separation. This offers parents different strategies and essential support for setting up a new life as a single parent.

Carl Winn, Head of Community and Sustainability at CI Coop said: “It’s a privilege to be able to help so many community groups, clubs, and charities in Jersey and Guernsey, as they tirelessly work to improve the lives of our islanders.

“Through our Community Fund, we support like-minded charities and not-for-profit organisations that align with our vision as a Coop, providing a financial boost to local causes, enabling them to keep up their incredible work.”

Of the incredible groups that all work tirelessly to improve lives, other Jersey projects supported on this round included,

  • Jersey Employment Trust, a comprehensive employment and vocational training service to assist people with disabilities and long-term health conditions to achieve their employment goals.
  • Family Nursing and Home Care, that provides expert prenatal and parental care and supports children, young people, families and the members of our community who need healthcare or support in their homes.

The community fund has also supported 11 groups in Guernsey, donating £12,448, totalling to over £26,000 combined across both Islands.

Applications for the Coop Community Fund remain open all year-round with pay-outs being made to successful projects in Spring and Autumn. More details on the Society’s Community Fund can be found at: https://www.channelislands.coop/je/your-society/community/coop-community-fund/
