The Jersey Eisteddfod, Deutsche Bank Festival of the Creative Arts will be taking place this month and promises to be a rewarding exhibition of artistic talent, for all age groups and a variety of artforms.

The event will be taking place at the RJA&HS Exhibition Hall, Trinity, and will be open to the public between Thursday 15th March to Sunday 18th March, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., closing on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Festival provides an excellent forum for showing the high quality and diverse art work produced in Jersey’s secondary schools and the majority of Island primary schools. Students aged between 7 and 18 years, will be exhibiting their work in drawing, painting, craft work, handwriting and photography.

In the Photography Section, 268 prints will be exhibited, by both adult and students, with students representing four of the Island’s secondary schools. For a further year, two of Guernsey’s photographic clubs have entered the exhibition.

In order to keep up to date with technological advances, exhibits in the Photography Section have been achieved by using mobile phones and tablets, as well as the more traditional and digital SLR cameras.

Christine Hamon, the General Administrator for the Jersey Eisteddfod, commented:

“The Festival will have a fresh new look this year, with new exhibition boards being used. Our thanks go to the Association of Jersey Charities and the Channel Islands Lottery for a most generous grant to enable these replacements. The boards will help show off artwork by adults and young participants alike, while floral displays and needlework will continue to exhibit on tables.

“As always, our gratitude goes to Deutsche Bank.  Without their continuing support, it would not be possible to use such an excellent venue, full of light and space which shows off all the creativity to their best advantage.”
