West End and TV performers are bringing an evening of 50s and 60s music to Guernsey in the setting of an American diner.

West End and TV performers are bringing an evening of 50s and 60s music to Guernsey in the setting of an American diner.

Sponsored by Investec Specialist Bank, The Twist will feature West End sweetheart Suzi Madin and her husband Chris Madin, who sings on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. Part of every ticket sale will go to Young People Guernsey (YPG), of which Investec is a strong supporter.

Stephen Henry, head of Investec Specialist Bank in the Channel Islands, is looking forward to another high-class fundraising event following the success of last year’s.

‘From the sale of every ticket, £5 will go to YPG, which does fantastic work in the island for young people from the age of 11 to 16. Investec is extremely happy to be part of this exciting show, which has some top-level performers,’ said Mr Henry.

The event takes place at the Princess Royal Centre for Performing Arts on Friday 1 November.

Vibrant compere, Tony Tremendo, will deliver a show packed with hits from the Rock n Roll era, such as Dreamboats and Petticoats and That’ll Be The Day, as well as plenty of laughter.

The Twist is a major annual fundraiser for YPG and follows last year’s successful Back To Broadway event.

YPG is a Guernsey charity established in 2011 to identify and respond to the needs of young people in the Bailiwick, particularly those at risk. In March last year the organisation signed a deal with the UK charity Barnado’s to open an information, advice and guidance centre which is now approaching its one-year anniversary.

‘We are thrilled that Investec is again sponsoring this fabulous event. The Hub provides an invaluable service to young people in our island and it’s vital that we continue to find funding for it. The money raised through The Twist will go straight towards the sustainability of our centre and the Barnado’s service for youngsters in the Bailiwick,’ said Jane St Pier, YPG chair.

A limited number of tickets are available for the main auditorium and are priced at £60 each or £600 for a table of 10, where sharing platters will be served. Seats are available in the gallery for £25.

The dress code is smart casual and there is a full bar available.

The evening will be compered by ITV Channel Television’s Gary Burgess and will include the chance to bid for an ‘out of the ordinary’ experience.
