The Government of Jersey Brexit team is holding a series of free Jersey Brexit Ready events on Monday 7 October at the Royal Yacht Hotel. The day begins with a launch event at 9:15am, where representatives from Government of Jersey will provide an update on Jersey’s preparations for a No Deal Brexit, outline the rationale behind the new Let’s talk Trade consultation, and set out the opportunities presented by Brexit in the context of the Global Markets Strategy.
An afternoon session at 2pm is targeted at businesses. It will look at issues such as the new customs arrangements, staffing concerns and the practical issues of managing stocks, supplies and cash flow. It will be practical and pragmatic, and you will receive information, hints and tips about the steps to take to get your business as well prepared for Brexit as possible.
In the evening, there will be a Panel Discussion and Q&A session for members of the public. This will be an opportunity to put questions directly to Ministers and officials about the Government’s preparations for Brexit, including preparations for a No Deal Brexit, the Jersey EU Settlement Scheme and trade and customs arrangements with the UK, EU, and rest of the world. Islanders are also invited to drop into the Royal Yacht’s Lazy Jack Lounge at any point during the day, to speak to representatives from Jersey Customs and Immigration, DVS, and Health and Community Services.
Jersey’s External Relations Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, said: “We are regularly reviewing our preparations, and updating them as new information emerges. We have been working with parish authorities, voluntary organisations, charities, religious groups and community leaders, to understand the needs of vulnerable Islanders who may be affected by a No Deal Brexit. I hope it will reassure Islanders that we are doing all we can to be ready for Brexit.”
