Liquid managing director, Jason MacKenzie, has become the first Channel Islander to be awarded Fellowships of both the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
Fellowship is the highest grade of membership conferred on members of either institute. It is only awarded to senior professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the respective disciplines of public relations and marketing. There are fewer than a dozen people in the world who hold Fellowships in both institutes.
Mr MacKenzie, who is also a Chartered Marketer, Accredited PR Practitioner and elected member of the national Council of the CIPR, was a broadcast journalist with Channel Television and has held senior roles in integrated marketing communications in both Guernsey and Jersey. He worked for leading businesses such as Le Riche’s and the JT Group prior to co-founding a pan-Channel Island integrated agency. His agency merged with a UK PR firm in 2011 and is now known as Liquid. Liquid is recognised as a PRWeek ‘Top 150’ national consultancy and as one of the ‘Top 40’ agencies outside of London.
‘I’m honoured to be recognised by both the CIPR and the CIM. These institutes are at the forefront of a drive for public relations and marketing to be recognised as strategic disciplines, adding value to businesses and other organisations. I’m glad to play a role in the ongoing drive toward professionalism within both PR and marketing. Long may this emphasis continue,’ he said.
CIPR national president Sue Wolstenholme praised Mr MacKenzie’s involvement in establishing the institute in the Channel Islands.
‘Since being elected inaugural chairman of the Channel Islands group in 2008, Jason has exemplified leading thinking and best practice. His contribution has been extensive, from representing the institute at international conferences in Mexico and Poland to judging our national CIPR Excellence Awards. I’m delighted that he has been chosen to join this select group of senior practitioners as a Fellow,’ she said.
CIM chief executive Anne Godfrey added ‘Mr MacKenzie’s election as a dual Fellow is a testament to his commitment to professional development and a recognition of the value professional marketers bring to their organisations.’
