Since the inception of Eat Jersey in 2015, Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust has been the food festival’s philanthropic partner. Headquartered at Jersey Zoo, Durrell not only does vital work around the world to save species from extinction, but is a much-loved visitor attraction and community champion in the island.

Each year an auction of exclusive prizes and experiences is held during Eat Jersey in aid of Durrell and to date, The Atlantic Hotel has raised almost £30,000 in support of the valuable work they do.

Owner and Managing Director, Patrick Burke said:

“After two missed years due to Covid, this year’s festival promises to be bigger and better than ever and that goes for the auction as well. We’ve got some really exciting auction lots including exclusive dining experiences donated by our headline chefs Michel Roux Jr and Bryn Williams as well as the chance to join Will Holland in the kitchens of Ocean Restaurant for your very own private cookery lesson.”

“Durrell now forms an integral part of Eat Jersey. As well as the auction, guests at the festival will be greeted by Chimera, one of the gorilla sculptures from their hugely successful Gorilla Trail, and will dine surrounded by gorillas, sloths and orangutans! It’s also important to us to share the Durrell experience with our visiting chefs who will be given the opportunity to visit Jersey Zoo and learn about some of the species they support.”

Dr Lesley Dickie, CEO, Durrell said:

“We are so grateful to our longstanding partners at The Atlantic Hotel and we hugely appreciate the myriad of different ways in which they support us. Eat Jersey is a real culinary highlight, celebrating the best of Jersey produce and I am very fortunate to be able to attend. There are some fabulous, unique auction lots, all of which will raise funds for Durrell and our mission saving threatened species and their habitats around the world.”

The Eat Jersey charity auction is an online event that is open to everyone, not just those attending the festival. Anyone wishing to place a bid for one of the exclusive auction lots or to donate funds should visit www.uk.givergy.com/EatJersey . The auction runs from 9 am on Monday 20th March to 10.30 pm on Friday 24th March 2023.

The Eat Jersey Food Festival takes place from 23rd to 26th March 2023. For more details visit www.theatlantichotel.com/dining/eat-jersey
