EY is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Willey as Head of Tax in the Channel Islands.
Peter has an extensive and impressive career spanning over 37 years. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxations and a member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications.
In 1976 Peter joined EY as an audit student after graduating from University. He quickly progressed through the firm and was appointed Head of Tax in the Newcastle office in 1985. Looking for a new challenge in 1996, he transferred to London to manage the integration of the firm’s IT and Tax solutions upon taking on the role of National Tax Automation Partner.
Peter joins EY’s Channel Islands tax practice from the Newcastle office, where he returned to in 1997 to develop the firm’s Personal Tax Centre (PTC), which is the firm’s National Centre of Excellence for personal tax compliance and advisory work. Peter has led PTC for 16 years and it has grown to comprise 240 staff handling over 28,000 personal tax cases across the UK and overseas.
During his extensive career Peter has gained a wealth of experience working with banks and asset managers providing personal tax compliance and reporting services. He has been instrumental in developing EY’s automated tax compliance systems, which are used throughout EY’s global network. In his new role Peter will be applying his experience to provide personal tax for high net worth individuals and compliance and reporting solutions to local businesses.
