Islanders who want to celebrate the Queen’s Birthday in style while practicing social distancing are being invited to indulge in a seafood feast on Saturday 13 June – and it’s all in aid of a great cause.
To celebrate the occasion, local company Harpers Catering are offering to deliver a Seafood Platter for two people direct to your door for you to enjoy – and a donation from each platter sold will go to local charity Family Nursing and Home Care, who offer nursing services and home care to islanders of all ages.
The Seafood Platter, which costs £75 for two people, consists of a half lobster, smoked salmon, prawns, a dressed green salad and Jersey Royals, and a trio of desserts. For an extra £10, a bottle of Prosecco will be delivered with the order.
Hayley Dewar, of Harpers Catering, said: “We’re delighted to join up with Family Nursing & Home Care to offer islanders something memorable for the Queen’s Birthday weekend. After the Liberation 75 celebrations, it’s great to carry on the theme of celebration and offer islanders a treat which will be delivered direct to their door.
“Local charities, including Family Nursing and Home Care, are continuing to do an amazing job during these difficult times and should not be forgotten. It also means people can enjoy being sociable without being in a crowd of people, but with a memorable meal.”
Bronwen Whittaker, Chief Executive Officer of Family Nursing & Home Care said: “We are delighted that Harpers Catering have thought of us to benefit from this great idea. We are very appreciative. We work hard to deliver nursing and home care services to islanders all year round. Our teams have continued to work hard and adapt their work in the current circumstances.
“Raising awareness and much needed funds about what we do is essential, so we can continue to deliver the very best services to the islanders who need them. It is an unusually hard time for all charities at the moment, as we cannot put on events as we would normally. Islanders are very generous and we hope that this lovely offer is something they will take up and enjoy.”
Islanders can order their seafood platter in the next two weeks. The deadline for orders is Thursday 11 June, at 5 pm.
