Twelve months of fundraising by one of Jersey’s largest private sector employers has seen over £45,000 donated to Headway Jersey, the charity that works to improve quality of life after brain injury.

The funds raised by RBC Wealth Management employees will directly support Headway Jersey’s rehabilitation programmes as they seek to better understand all aspects of brain injury and provide information, support and services to members, their families and carers.

Ray Cooper, Chief Executive Officer at Headway Jersey thanked the staff at RBC Wealth Management for their efforts: ‘We are very grateful to the staff at RBC for taking the time to come up with a variety of clever and fun initiatives to raise valuable funds for our charity. Their generous contribution will go a long way in keeping the center running, and enable Headway to invest in life-changing rehabilitation equipment and new technology that will assist patients affected by stroke, tumours, hemorrhage and accidents.’

Two such pieces of equipment that have found immediate use at the Headway Centre are: the SaeboMAS, a dynamic mobile arm support which helps those with weakness in the shoulder or elbow to start performing exercises and self care tasks; and the Saebo Rejoyce, which uses gaming technology to emulate daily tasks such as opening a jar or picking up a coin.

Commenting on the year of fundraising Lisa Journeaux, Assistant Events Manager at RBC Wealth Management, said: ‘We understand that Headway Jersey is receiving at least one new brain injury referral each week so demands on their resources are heavy. In support of our chosen charity, staff organised a range of activities including bake sales, raffle draws and themed nights to raise as much as possible to support the centre. Being able to see those funds supporting such an incredible cause and contributing to such life-changing equipment has made us all very proud.’

RBC Wealth Management's employees have chosen CLIC Sargent Cancer Care for Children as the 2014 Jersey Charity of the Year. This charity aims to ensure that every child and teenager with cancer and their families receive the support they need.
