Highlands College are hosting a fundraising ball to raise funds for Jersey students to deliver an English and Sports Development programme for school children in Nepal.

An evening of dinner, dancing and entertainment, the ‘A Million Dreams Fundraising Ball’ takes place on Friday 29 March at the Royal Yacht Hotel, in the Celestial Hall. The event includes a champagne reception and a three course dinner.

Aaron Labey, Business Development Co-ordinator at Highlands said: “This black tie event will be a great opportunity to meet with people from across the business sector on the island. It will be an entertaining night, raising money for a worthy cause. All funds raised will put towards the student’s trip, which will be a fantastic learning opportunity for them.”

This is the second year Highlands College has organised a trip to Nepal, after an earthquake devastated the country in 2015. The Shree Guanda School, where the students will be working, has been rebuilt; so the project’s focus is to ensure the school is sustainable and has adequate resources for the children. It is a cause in association with the Gurkha Welfare Trust Jersey, a respected and long established charity.

Steve Lewis, Principal of Highlands College said, “Our new college mission statement is, ‘transforming lives’ and I can think of no better way to launch our vision for the future. The Nepal project is about transforming the lives of our Jersey students who will have the opportunity to experience a different place and a different culture and it is about transforming the lives of the young people in Nepal through the interchange of skills and ideas. This Gala evening will generate the funds to make this all possible.”

The event is proudly sponsored by BDO Jersey the lead sponsor for the trip and in partnership with The Royal Yacht Hotel, the Disco Sensation, DramaLab and Mailmate Group.

Tables of ten are available at £65.00 a ticket and can be purchased by visiting www.nepal2019.eventbrite.com.
