It was beginning to smell a lot like Christmas at two of Jersey’s top hotels last week.

Nicolas Valmagna, Executive Chef at the AA Five Star Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa and Andrew Soddy, Executive Head Chef atthe AA Four Red StarL’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa were busy making mini mince pies, Christmas cake and shortbread.

The chefs have donated their delicious festive fare to Age Concern’s Hamper Appeal, giving some elderly residents on lower incomes a tasty treat in the run up to Christmas.

The appeal has been running for the last eight years and thanks to donations from generous islanders, more than 300 hampers were delivered last year.

Commenting on Operation Hamper, Simon Miller, General Manager of Hand Picked Hotels Jersey said, “Age Concern is a fantastic charity providing a real lifeline to older people in the community all year round and we’re delighted to be supporting Operation Hamper once again. We hope our donations will help spice up Christmas for some of our elderly islanders.”
