Jersey College for Girls is very pleased to host the Thrive Conference on Monday 26th June.

The College will be welcoming colleagues from the local and national education sector for a day of learning and workshops.

Our keynote speaker will be Dylan Wiliam, Emeritus Professor of Educational Assessment at the UCL Institute of Education and one of the world’s leading thinkers in educational practice.

After teaching in inner-city schools in London for seven years, Dylanjoined Chelsea College, University of London, which later merged with King's College London

In 2003, he moved to the USA to become Senior Research Director at the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, NJ.

In 2006, he returned to the UK as Deputy Director of the Institute of Education at the University of London, a post which he held for four years before stepping down to spend more time on research and teaching.

Dylan’s recent work has focused on the use of assessment to support learning (sometimes called formative assessment), which he will discuss in his keynote address.

MarinaGardiner Legge, the President Elect of the Girls' Schools Association and Headmistress at Oxford High School GDST, will be our second speaker of the day.

A passionate believer in the power of girls-only education to change lives, Marina will focus on the National Picture of Girls' Education in her address.

Carl Howarth, Principal, commented,

We are delighted to see the return of our annual conference of learningThis year, we have deliberately chosen ‘Thrive’ as its title. As we emerge from the confinements of the pandemic, it is so important to review and redesign what we are doing to enable our young people to flourishIn addition to listening and learning from world class speakers, our conference will include workshops onpreparing young people for a world we cannot imagine. This includes how to thrive in a world of competing priorities, new realities and important questions surrounding the notion of what personal success looks like.
