A Jersey-based business has secured a contract to provide specialist training to health professionals and local council employees of a London borough.
The Resilience Development Company has been selected by Kingston Clinical Commissioning Group and the Royal Borough of Kingston to deliver resilience training to NHS and Borough Council employees as part of an organisational change programme designed to improve joint commissioning of health and social care.
Work has already started and a team from Kingston’s Health & Social Services department will undertake a tailored nine-week programme designed to build their personal, team and organisational resilience.
Head of Kingston’s Commissioning Service, Derek Hoddinott, said the aim was to drive forward strategic plans to improve value for money to taxpayers and improve outcomes for Borough residents.
‘As part of the plans, we are developing an integrated commissioning organisation across the Clinical Commissioning Group. We decided at an early stage that individual, team and organisational resilience was key to achieving our objectives as these changes are being done in the context of a difficult financial position and wider changes within the NHS,’ he said.
He said that they were now half way through the training and was delighted with the positive feedback that has already been received..
‘The training has already improved levels of confidence and cross-functional working. I am confident that this will help us achieve sustainable change and result in a higher functioning organisation that has a common culture at its heart,’ he said
Resilience Development Company co-founder David Ogilvie said the Jersey-based business was delighted to be involved. He said that this was an example that showed that Jersey companies can perform well when they compete for contracts alongside UK businesses.
Mr Ogilvie said: ‘We’ve worked with a diverse set of industries to date, ranging from finance, law, telecoms, retail and third sector to support people in developing new habits and behaviours that make change less stressful.’
He said the firm’s programmes enhance mental toughness, build trusting relationships and allow development of a culture based on strengths.
‘Many team and leadership programmes often touch on these skills but our Resilience Training builds them in a very structured way, underpinned with practical skills that support long term behaviour change,’ he said
