Jersey Child Care Trust has been selected as Jersey Post’s chosen charity for 2023, following a staff vote taken in November of last year.

Jersey Child Care Trust (JCCT) is a local charity that work to ensure all of the Island’s children have the best start in life. They enable access to nurseries for children with disabilities, providing vital support, without which many children would be unable to attend a nursery setting. They also work to tackle poverty, prioritising their support for those families who need it the most. JCCT is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, so it’s an extra special year to be working in partnership together.

The JCCT’s Special Needs Inclusion Programme provides extra help through the placement of specialist support workers who work as part of the nursery team to ensure children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities have the best possible opportunities to thrive and achieve. Their Best Start Plus Nursery Funding Programme, helps support low-income families by providing up to 12 hours a week nursery funding.

Fiona Vacher, Executive Director of Jersey Child Care Trust, said “This partnership between Jersey Child Care Trust and Jersey Post comes at such a crucial time for children, families and our charity. Now, more than ever before, we are experiencing the greatest demands for our programmes and services. The needs of young children and families continue to grow, and we need to make sure that no child misses out. 2023 is also our 25th Anniversary of our charity and so we are delighted that Jersey Post has chosen us as their Charity of the Year. Jersey Post’s Charity Committee have already formed plans for some fun, social fundraising events and together we are creating some superb volunteering opportunities for Jersey Post employees that will see us all learn more about what we do and the difference we make.”

David McGrath, Group Marketing Director at Jersey Post, said: “We are thrilled to support Jersey Child Care Trust, particularly in their silver jubilee year, as an organisation that works at the heart of the community, we understand the importance of supporting families. We are delighted to be able to raise awareness and raise funds for JCCT, and we look forward to working with them throughout 2023.”

Since 2013, Jersey Post has committed a year of fundraising to multiple local charities including Headway Jersey, Macmillan Jersey, Jersey Alzheimer’s Association, Jersey Cheshire Home, Les Amis, JSPCA, H4HJ and Mind Jersey raising over £120,000 in total and increasing awareness of these charities through a variety of individual, team and company-wide initiatives.
