Earlier this week (Tue 8 Mar 2022), the Jersey Rotary Club de la Manche hosted the Lieutenant-Governor Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton and Lady Dalton at a competition for the Lieutenant-Governor’s Cadets.

The prize on offer was the club’s Lieutenant-Governor’s Cadet Trophy and a cheque for £1000.

There are six 2022 Lieutenant-Governor Cadets drawn from the Island Cadet Forces. Each of them was given the opportunity to present to His Excellency and the Rotary Members on their experiences of being a Cadet, their goals, and future aspirations.

All of the Cadets made excellent presentations acquitting themselves with distinction and in doing so impressed His Excellency and the high calibre audience.

After much deliberation by the judging panel, which was made up of His Excellency, Lady Dalton, Jersey’s Minister of Justice and Home Affairs Deputy Gregory Guida and The Rotary Club President Russell Turner, the eventual winner was declared to be Cadet Corporal Emily Rodrigues of the Jersey Army Cadet Force.

The Jersey Rotary Club de la Manche Lieutenant-Governors’ Trophy was presented to Emily by His Excellency and Rotary President Russell Turner.

His Excellency went on to thank the Rotary Club for hosting the event, he then paid tribute to all of the Lieutenant-Governor Cadets for taking part in the competition and for acquitting themselves with distinction. This is the seventh time that this prize has being awarded and it is now established as an annual event.
