Now in it’s third year, Macmillan Jersey are back this September with their Get Together for Good events week.

Last year the event raised over £25,000 with the help of island businesses and individuals alike, helping to ensure the vital practical, emotional and wellbeing services Macmillan Jersey offer to anyone in Jersey remain freely available.

The Get Together for Good week, initially conceived during Jersey’s COVID lockdown aims to bring islanders together, and celebrate the community spirit in Jersey all whilst benefitting islanders affected by cancer in any way.

You can get a fundraising pack by signing up online, or visiting Macmillan Jersey’s charity book café The Lounge at 26 Burrard Street and speaking to a member of the fundraising team. Included are materials to help make your fundraising event and coffee morning extra special.

This year, the week centres around three main events for the public to get involved in. On Wednesday 28thSeptember the charity is introducing ‘Wear it Green Wednesday’ – a chance for islanders to dress up in their favourite green clothes whilst helping raise funds and awareness. On Friday 30th September Jersey’s Greatest Coffee Morning returns, and Macmillan Jersey want schools, corporates, and individuals to get involved and help make this year’s coffee morning the biggest and best yet! Then on Saturday 1st October we’re taking over Jersey Park Run and would love to see familiar faces and people who have never attempted a Park Run before to help us raise much needed funds.

Steph Gibaut – C.E.O of Macmillan Jersey said “Our Get Together for Good events week really is a highlight in the calendar for the team at Macmillan Jersey. It is our opportunity to put some ‘Fun’ into ‘Fundraising’ and get fully involved with the community that we so dearly appreciate. As a local charity, we receive no funding from Macmillan UK or Government of Jersey and rely so heavily on the public to support our local cause. This year we would like to encourage as many islanders as possible to host a Get Together for Good event. This could be our famous coffee morning, a dress down day or something of your own creative choice. Whatever you choose to do this September, please remember that the money you raise collectively will have a huge impact on our local community. By supporting Macmillan Jersey, you are enabling our team of professionals to continue providing emotional, practical and wellbeing support to anyone affected by cancer in Jersey. Together, we can make a difference now and in the future.’

As a local charity, Macmillan Jersey’s vision is that everybody affected by cancer in Jersey will have access to emotional, practical and wellbeing support, through their preferred route of contact. This support will be delivered in a way that meets peoples individual needs from diagnosis and beyond, and from whichever source is best placed.
