The Jersey Employment Trust’s 20th anniversary conference will be jointly sponsored by Ogier and NatWest International.

Both firms have had links with the charity for many years, including as employers offering work and training opportunities to people who have a disability or long-term health condition.

Sarah Murray, Group Diversity and Inclusion Manager at Ogier, said: ‘We are delighted to support the Jersey Employment Trust as they celebrate this landmark anniversary. Through their work, they highlight a large, and mostly untapped, pool of talent. They not only help those with disabilities or long-term health conditions gain and maintain employment, but also offer advice and guidance to employers on providing the necessary support.

‘Awareness is not as high as it needs to be, not just of the often simple adjustments that employers can make to support people with disabilities in the workplace, but also the significant contribution people with disabilities make as employees. We want to change that, and we hope that events such as this anniversary conference will play a part in this.’

Lynn Cleary, CFO & Sponsor for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for NatWest International, said: ‘NatWest International are proud to be co-sponsor of the 20th Jersey Employment Trust conference, alongside Ogier. At NatWest International we are passionate about providing an inclusive environment for all our colleagues, and we have worked with JET for many years to support people in Jersey to gain employment. We look forward to being part of what promises to be a fantastic event, allowing us to share our expertise with other employers in Jersey as well as learning from the experiences of others.’

JET executive officer Jocelyn Jacques said: ‘We would like to thank Ogier and NatWest International for their generous support, which means that we can run our flagship event without charging delegates. It also means that we can bring over a high-profile speaker like BBC Security Correspondent Frank Gardner, who is sure to make our 20thanniversary conference even more memorable.’

Mr Gardner suffered life-changing injuries after being shot by terrorists in Saudi Arabia in 2004 and last year presented a BBC documentary called Being Frank showing his life coping with an acquired disability.

JET’s conference will be held at the L’Horizon Beach Hotel on Tuesday 26 April. The charity will also present awards to employers who have gone the extra mile when supporting people in the workplace.
