Visit Jersey is proud to announce a sponsorship partnership with JT for the Jersey Big Weekend.

This new and exciting event for Jersey, set to take place from 28-29 March 2020, will inspire island residents to explore and rediscover the island’s wide-ranging attractions and experiences.

The Jersey Big Weekend campaign provides local businesses with the opportunity to encourage residents to discover the ‘hidden gems’ available to them right on their doorstep by going into a ballot for free tickets for entry and special offers.

The idea of the event is to create a greater awareness of Jersey’s attractions and experiences and enables local hosts to become better-informed tourism ambassadors for visiting friends and family. JT is a business that actively contributes the community and were a natural partner to showcase the vibrancy of Jersey’s tourism economy and reward local residents.

Senator Lyndon Farnham, Minister for Economic Development, Tourism, Sport and Culture commented:

“The aim of the Big Weekend Jersey is to inspire islanders to explore Jersey’s tourism sector and drive productivity, by encouraging earlier seasonal opening across the island’s attractions and activity providers. As an important contributor to island life, I am delighted to see JT support for this inaugural event.”

Graeme Millar, CEO at JT, said:

“Technology has transformed today’s tourism industry, providing so many choices on what to do and where to go, we can plan, manage and book anything from travel to dinner reservations online. The internet has also presented new opportunities for many small businesses, allowing people worldwide to discover an Airbnb in St. Ouen or scuba diving on the North coast, through online review sites, social media and of course, the businesses’ own websites.

At JT we are very proud to be ambassadors of Jersey, and by partnering with Visit Jersey and local businesses for the ‘JT Jersey’s Big Weekend’ we hope that, together, we will ignite a curiosity for islanders to discover the amazing attractions we have on our own doorstep all year round”.

Visit Jersey is asking the island’s tourism businesses to donate free tickets to celebrate all it has to offer.  Hundreds of free tickets to Jersey attractions and businesses will be available to the island’s residents via an online ballot.

The Jersey Big Weekend is an important campaign coordinated by Visit Jersey to help highlight the island’s tourism offer to its residents. The campaign aims to increase return visits by local people and help them make warm recommendations to their friends and family.

Every Jersey resident aged over 18 can apply for a pair of tickets for their chosen attraction (some family tickets are available). Attractions that are already free to enter will be offering a range of extras such as guided tours, refreshments and special gifts.
