Excitement is building as the Junior Siam competition returns to St Peter on 15 April for the first time since 2017.
The Minis & Juniors (M&Js) section of Jersey Rugby Club is gearing up to host the Guernsey Rugby Academy at all age groups from U7s up to Colts (U18s).
Chair Michelle Clark commented “Jersey M&Jscan’t wait to contest a Junior Siam on home turf - it’s been a long wait! Junior Siam follows the same pattern as the senior event, with Jersey and Guernsey hosting on alternate years. Bad weather forced us to cancel in 2019 and it was impossible to host such a large event in 2021 because of covid restrictions, so many of our younger players have never experienced the thrill of a home Siam competition.
“We are looking forward to welcoming a Guernsey contingent of over 300 players, coaches and supporters to St Peter on Saturday 15 April. There will be games taking place throughout the day, starting at 11.15.
“The younger age groups play small-sided tag games in a round-robin format, whilst the older age groups will each put out their best side to compete for their respective trophies. The day with culminate in the U18s Colts game,which takes place on the main Stade Santander pitch at 2.30pm.
“It’s going to be a terrific festival atmosphere with plenty of rugby action and we’d love to see as many spectators as we can in attendance to cheer on our home teams.
