Blood Cancer UK Jersey are delighted that the Vistra Jersey Kids Triathlon is taking place on Saturday 12 June at Les Quennevais Sports & Leisure Centre.
Following the Government of Jersey Update on the Reconnection Roadmap, organisers have restructured certain elements of the event so that they can welcome as many children as possible, including extending the day and operating in a series of waves.
Chris Rowland of Blood Cancer UK Jersey says, “our event could not happen in 2020 due to COVID-19, so we are absolutely delighted that the team at 3D Events, David Holmes and our wonderful sponsors Vistra Jersey, have worked so hard to ensure that the children can take part in a safe and fun event, all whilst raising valuable funds and awareness into blood cancer research and support”.
The event has set a fundraising goal of £10,000 and welcomes children of all abilities in school years 2 – 8. Children in year 9 will be allowed to take part in 2021, as they missed out in 2020 due to the event being postponed. Organisers encourage parents with children who may need extra support on the day to contact them ahead of the event.
There are no winners or losers, just a fantastic number of special achievers, who are supported by expert volunteers from the Jersey Junior Tri Stars Club, Jersey Swimming Club, Jersey Cycling Association Youth Academy and Jersey Park Run.
Clive T Wright, Managing Director of Vistra Channel Islands, said, “We are proud to be the named sponsor of the Blood Cancer UK Jersey Kids’ Triathlon for our fourth consecutive year. It is a testament to our strong commitment to the Jersey community by not only engaging kids in sports in a fun and non-competitive environment during such a challenging time, but also supporting a great cause. We look forward to another successful event ahead while raising awareness and funds to support their invaluable research on blood cancer.”
Parents and guardians can find out more about the event and register their children here: jerseykidstriathlon.com.
Online registration will remain open until Wednesday 9 June at 3pm, but we highly recommend registering before this date to avoid disappointment.
