Law At Work (“LAW”) Director Richard Plaster has been shortlisted for the new ‘Outstanding HR Professional’ Award at the 2017 Jersey branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (“CIPD”) awards night.
Mr Plaster is one of two HR professionals in the running for the award. The winner will be announced at a gala dinner on Saturday 4 November.
With over 30 years’ experience in senior HR roles in Jersey, Mr Plaster is a recognised authority on employment-related issues. He is a former chair of both the Jersey Skills Board and the Employment Forum, and was central in the development of the Island’s Employment Law, which came into force in 2003.
Mr Plaster joined LAW in 2014 and has been instrumental in making it the leading HR and H&S consultancy business in the Channel Islands. Through his drive and determination, LAW has developed a range of new services, including dispute mediation, executive recruitment, a commercial salary survey, a classroom and e-learning training academy and the establishment of a sister company in the UK.
Mr Plaster said: “An organisation cannot build a good team of working professionals without good HR and I’ve been privileged to have worked in this important industry for many years. The CIPD has been instrumental in maintaining the high standards of HR and it’s a great honour to have been shortlisted for one of the Jersey branch’s awards.
LAW Managing Director Kelly Flageul, who nominated Mr Plaster, said: “Through both voluntary and non-voluntary roles, Richard has been a leading figure in Jersey’s HR development - making sure that businesses adapt to modern employment legislation and practices, which are designed specifically for the Island. He has also been key in delivering the business plan for LAW and because of his extensive expertise and experience, we have been able to execute the plan and prosper.”
