Jim Edmondson will join Mourant Ozannes' award-winning International Trusts & Private Client practice as a consultant based in London and will lead that practice from 1 September 2014 when current head, Douglas Close, steps down after three years in the post. Jim Edmondson, who was until May 2013 head of Farrer & Co's private client practice, and joint senior partner, and who has acted in a consultancy role for that firm since then, will join Mourant Ozannes with effect from 1 May 2014.

Commenting on the move, Mourant Ozannes' head of International Trusts & Private Client, Douglas Close, said: "Jim Edmondson is one of the most experienced and well regarded private client lawyers in London, with acknowledged expertise in complex offshore structuring and multi-jurisdictional advice. His arrival will enable us to focus more closely on such non-contentious work from international clients and referrers of business, and to grow and develop our International Trusts & Private Client practice further over the next few years.  I very much look forward to working with him."

Mourant Ozannes' Global Managing Partner, Jonathan Rigby, said: "Under Doug Close's leadership, our International Trusts & Private Client practice has gone from strength to strength, winning international recognition and exceeding its targets for growth.  It is testament to that success that we have been able to recruit someone of such international standing as Jim Edmondson.  Jim has a well-deserved reputation as one of the foremost private client lawyers in the UK and I am delighted to welcome him to Mourant Ozannes."

Jim Edmondson added: "I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with Mourant Ozannes in continuing to develop their International Trusts & Private Client practice and to build upon the excellent work done by Doug Close.  I shall be sorry to leave Farrers but I consider myself fortunate to have this chance to work with another first class law firm, not in competition with Farrers, dealing with private client work across the wide spectrum covered by Mourant Ozannes' practice.  I am particularly grateful for the support and cooperation of my colleagues at Farrers in enabling me to take on this exciting new challenge."

Mourant Ozannes' International Trusts & Private Client practice is an integrated global team of advisors, litigators and draftsmen, advising on the laws of the BVI, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey, from offices in each of these jurisdictions as well as in Hong Kong and London.
