Islanders will be able to get their backs on the world’s most desirable mattresses thanks to a new line from Mypad.

The cutting edge mattresses, known as ‘beds-in-a-box’ are causing a storm around the globe, attracting investments from celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Ashton Kutcher.

The shopping experience of finding a bed is generally characterised by great confusion and fruitless trips to retailer after retailer. The new concept changes the way we shop by making online ordering, front-door delivery and a one-style-fits-all philosophy the new (less exhausting) standard. And now Mypad, leading Channel Islanders online furniture retailer, offers a clickable alternative to the slog of finding a mattress in storerooms for Islanders.

Vacuum-packed, the new mattresses are easier to transport, and install – making it more viable to order your mattress online from the comfort of your home. The mattress arrives less than 24-hours later in a one-metre-high box. Once unwrapped they will expand to the full size, and for piece of mind they come with a 100-night sleep trial.

New York-based manufacturer Casper, the first firm to offer beds-in-a-box, has £48 million of backing with investors ranging from private equity to celebrities and a list of accolades including one of Time Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2015.

Paul Clark, Managing Director of Mypad said: “This simple yet effective concept makes it among the more affordable options on the market. Without the costs of renting a large showroom and hiring sales people, ecommerce based retailers can pass cost reductions to the customers. Most mattresses online sell for less than £500, whereas in-store products can go for two or even three times that.”

“They are high quality products aimed at an exhausted generation of young people. But it is also about the convenience by being able to shop online, and being able to receive them so quickly, rather then waiting for over a month. My prediction is that that they will take up to 30 percent of the local bed market over the next three years.”
