Liberation Group, the market-leading pubs, bars, eateries and drinks business across the Channel Islands, are pleased to welcome Gary Kelly into the fold as their new head of marketing.
Jersey-born Gary is no stranger to the Group, his parents having been landlords of Liberation Group pubs for over 20 years. His new role will see him marketing the Group’s portfolio of pubs, bars and eateries across Jersey and Guernsey as well as their drinks businesses and the Liberation Brewery.
Gary began his career at The Idea Works where he was taken on as an apprentice at the age of 16. He left to travel after four years, taking some design work in Sydney, Australia before returning to the Island and joining the team at Gallery Magazine. Most recently, Gary worked as Head of Production and Design at Blueprint Design before being offered the role at Liberation Group.
Mark Crowther, Chief Executive of Liberation Group said of the appointment, ‘Gary has definitely hit the ground running, quickly getting up to speed with all areas of the business. With his own experience of the hospitality industry and background in design, he will bring a new perspective and some fresh ideas. We’re really pleased to welcome him as part of the team.’
Gary commented: ‘I’m really excited to be working for Liberation Group. I’ve grown up with the industry and feel a personal connection with the business. There are so many different aspects to the marketing role and it’s definitely going to be a challenge but I can’t wait to get started.’ On speaking about his plans for the role, Gary said: ‘I‘d really like to push the Liberation brand across even more by making it as uniform as possible. Ultimately the ambition is for Liberation Group to have more exports to the UK so it’s important the brand has strength and unity both on and off island.’
Gary describes himself as a typical Jersey boy, who enjoys a round of golf or a game of football at the weekend followed by the odd pint of Liberation Ale, of course. He supersedes Jo Reed, who will be moving on to take up a marketing role at Jersey Tourism.
