Logicalis is this month celebrating 10 years of iConnect. The Channel-Island based firm set up its own fully managed hosted business service during the early days of cloud computing in 2006.

Today the secure hosted platform has over 1,500 users.

iConnect covers core IT needs, with Logicalis providing the hardware, software, maintenance upgrades and infrastructure support. This sort of cloud based service removes the need for managing desktop PCs, allowing companies to get rid of a costly IT infrastructure with traditional servers.

Instead, with iConnect, staff access their desktop business applications such as Microsoft Office and email, securely over the Web at any time through an Internet browser on their PC, laptop or tablet.

Jonathan Ward, Account Manager, Logicalis said: “Cloud computing has revolutionized the way companies interact with IT. The cloud frees up office space, and staff time. People can access the data they need, wherever they are in the world, which is a huge advantage for international businesses, for companies where staff travel regularly, or even for local businesses where staff work from different locations.

“Hosted Desktop applications look and behave like applications that are managed by in-house systems but the software and data that employees access are instead hosted in our highly resilient data centers. We have worked closely with clients over the past 10 years to understand their needs and experiences so we can offer them a real advantage.”

As well as helping businesses save money on upfront IT investment, hosted cloud based services can give smaller businesses the levels of support and technical ability normally only available through major packages and systems.

Cloud service can also be very useful for disaster recovery, as if you lose access to your premises, your staff will be able to work from anywhere.

Tom Bale, Business Development and Technical Director, Logicalis, said: “In the past 10 years the cloud has changed the way people do business so much it is hard to imagine a time before it. Some businesses e.g. Netflix, Airbnb, and Uber, rely entirely on the cloud and couldn’t exist, or indeed run the sorts of business they do without it.”

To celebrate iConnect’s 10th anniversary, Logicalis is offering the first 10 new customers 10 services free of change. These include: disaster recovery, email encryption, 24/7 support, email archiving, cyber security training, service desk support, advisor services, user onboarding, fixed migration fee, and long term back up.
