Moore Stephens Partner receives MBE

Moore Stephens Offshore Group senior partner, Clive Barton, has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list.

An MBE (The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) is awarded to those who are deemed to have contributed a significant achievement or outstanding service to the community.

Mr Barton over a number of decades has contributed significant amounts of time, assistance and financial management expertise to a range of Jersey charities including; the Wooden Spoon Society, where he utilised Moore Stephens’ fundraising capabilities to raise money for disadvantaged children; Diabetes Jersey, where he worked as president and Aids Care Education and Training Charitable Trust, both of which he works as patron for. For an unbroken 15 years he has also held the position as a St Helier Procurer du Bien Public and was an active part of the Société Jersiaise for 17 years.

Mr Barton is also the treasurer of Jersey Arts in Health Care Trust and is chairman on the Board of Governors at Victoria College as well as a trustee of the Victoria College Foundation. He has also been awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Plymouth University for his contribution to Highlands College where he is on the Board of Governors.

Mr Barton said: “I am immensely proud of my achievement and I found it quite difficult to keep quiet from friends and family.

“It’s not throwing money at something that makes a difference. It’s the time you dedicate to those who could really benefit from your expertise and the experiences that you’ve gained over a period of time.”

Mr Barton joined Moore Stephens London in 1970 and qualified in 1974. Shortly afterwards he transferred to Moore Stephens Jersey and was appointed as partner before progressing to senior partner in 1981. Mr Barton is head of the Moore Stephens Offshore Group.
