As the nights draw in, visitors are invited to experience 16 New Street Georgian House in a totally unique way. As they pass through the front door of this magnificent restored Georgian townhouse into the entrance hall, which has been decked with boughs of holly, visitors will feel like they are stepping back in time to a bygone era. Using their senses and their imagination, they are invited to explore the three floors of the house and look in on the servants and family members as they prepare for the festive period.
Described as ‘Silent Nights’, these magical and hugely atmospheric evenings are a wonderful opportunity for visitors to experience first-hand the sorts of activities that would have gone on ‘upstairs’ and ‘downstairs’ in the early 19thcentury when there was no electricity, no television - and no central heating . The only challenge for visitors is whether they are able to keep to the rules and move around the house in silence!
