HM Receiver General, Alan Blair, cut the red ribbon on Tuesday at La Moye School’s official opening of their new 3G pitch.

Work on the pitch began at the start of this year as the field was previously very uneven, sandy in the summer, and muddy in the winter. This meant there was reduced available play space and PE accessibility.

HM Receiver General, Alan Blair, said: “I was very honoured to be asked this morning to cut the ribbon at the opening of the new 3G pitch at La Moye School which is located on Crown Land.

“Credit must go to the designers, contractors, the Education Department and to John Baudains, the Head at La Moye School and his staff, who have all contributed to turning a very good idea into such a fantastic facility, which will be enjoyed for many years to come.”

Headteacher, John Baudains, said: “On behalf of all of the children and staff at La Moye School, I would like to say how delighted with our new all-weather, multipurpose sports pitch. In particular, we would like to thank the Receiver General, Mr. Alan Blair, the team at CYPES and JPH for their support in making this a reality, and the installation team.

“This new facility, which will be used every day for playtimes, lunchtimes, as well as PE lessons and after school clubs, ensures children have a safe, all-weather surface. The area is unrecognisable from the previous field, which was uneven, unsuitable for many sports, and unusable for much of the year. This fabulous new facility is supporting our new PE curriculum, designed to ensure all children have the best possible opportunities and skills, as well as forming positive attitudes about leading a healthy, active lifestyle.”
