Sophia Harrison has joined Carey Olsen's Cayman Islands office as an associate in the litigation and dispute resolution group.

Sophia Harrison has joined Carey Olsen's Cayman Islands office as an associate in the litigation and dispute resolution group.

Ms Harrison specialises in commercial litigation, banking and finance litigation and restructuring and insolvency. She represents both international and domestic clients in relation to complex and high value corporate and commercial disputes.

Ms Harrison originally joined Carey Olsen in March 2010 as a legal assistant in the firm's litigation and dispute resolution group in Guernsey. Her Cayman appointment marks her return to the firm having left Guernsey earlier this year.

She was called to the Bar in England and Wales in 2006 and completed pupillage in London in 2008 where she focused on commercial litigation and corporate and personal insolvency matters.  Before joining Carey Olsen she practised at Salans LLP in the firm's insolvency and asset based financing group and worked in the banking and finance litigation team at Lovells LLP.

Ms Harrison said: “Carey Olsen in the Cayman Islands has established a strong litigation and dispute resolution practice and I'm looking forward to working alongside such an experienced Cayman Islands legal team and helping to develop the firm's presence here.”

Jason Allison, managing partner of Carey Olsen's Cayman Islands office said: “Since Carey Olsen's expansion into the Cayman Islands last year we have been focussed on building our team to meet the demand for specialist legal services in this jurisdiction. Our clients know they can expect the same high standards they are used to when working with our other offices.

“Sophia's appointment represents the further growth of our litigation and dispute resolution group following the appointment of partner and head of litigation and corporate recovery Michael Makridakis earlier in the year.  Sophia’s existing knowledge of the wider firm will be very beneficial for litigation and dispute resolution in the Cayman Islands and for our clients."
