A new era has dawned for UBS in Jersey and it’s one in which agile working and the world-renowned artist, Anish Kapoor, take centre stage as part of the global banking group’s new offices on the fourth and fifth floors of IFC 1 in the International Finance Centre on St Helier’s Esplanade.
By making the move, UBS Jersey has joined a select group of UBS offices, including those in New York, Zurich and London, that meets the company’s global standards. In Jersey, UBS clients will be able to appreciate original artworks from the UBS art collection whilst meeting their advisers in custom-designed, hotel-style rooms that serve to enhance their perception of Jersey as a whole.
The new offices confirm UBS’ commitment to the island and an official opening reception is being held on Thursday 27th April to mark the occasion.
“There’s no doubt that the opening of our new offices marks the beginning of a new era in our commitment to Jersey,” said Tom Hill, CEO of UBS Jersey.
“Having been a part of the island’s community for nearly 40 years, we’re proud to be the first business to move into the International Finance Centre, a development which shows that Jersey is serious about maintaining its place at the heart of the global financial system.
“We’ve been able to work from the building for the past couple of weeks and I can tell you that everyone is delighted with the new workspace not least because we are, for the first time in Jersey, all able to work under the same roof.
“The move itself was very smooth and that’s because our corporate services teams, both here and in London, have worked extremely hard over the past two years to complete the project successfully. We’re all extremely grateful for their hard work and, through UBS’ continued success in Jersey, we’ll ensure that their effort has been worthwhile.”
A lack of dividing walls, ergonomically designed adjustable height desks, breakout pods and lots of light are just a few of the new office’s stand out characteristics. They work together to enable agile working by encouraging movement and interaction between colleagues.
“A light, welcoming office space in which people feel free to move and are able to work from anywhere, enhances people’s sense of wellbeing at work,” said Katrin Koch, Global head of Group Corporate Services at UBS.
“We want everyone at UBS to feel that they are being supported in their work and that means providing them with a safe and positive working environment. We’ve achieved this by using technology that makes it possible to create individual workspaces in any part of the office at any time.
“We’ve created a corporate environment that encourages people to work dynamically and we can see from our other flagship offices that doing so increases productivity.”
IFC 1 is the first of the International Finance Centre developments to have been completed by the Jersey Development Company and as one of the first tenants, UBS is inviting journalists to take a look at the new office space during the opening reception.
