The Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon returns on Sunday 7 October 2018 and promises to be another fun-filled event for all runners. Runners will once again be joined by the Seeing is Believing mascot Sir SiB who continues to travel the world raising awareness and fundraising for the charity Seeing is Believing, targeting the issue of avoidable blindness.
To double up on the fun at this year’s event and to increase awareness of Seeing is Believing further, SirSiB’s treasured sister Dr SiB will be travelling with her brother to make her debut appearance in Jersey. The duo are looking forward to meeting runners and will be providing plenty of high fives and photograph opportunities.
Richard Ingle, Chief Executive Officer, Standard Chartered Bank, Jersey, said:
‘This year’s marathon is extra special for us as Standard Chartered Jersey marks its 40th year on the island while Seeing is Believing celebrates 15 years of fundraising for eye-care. We are grateful for all the support shown by runners and the community all these years, and I am looking forward to welcoming everyone on race day together with Sir SiB and Dr SiB.’
Registration for the full marathon, the relay race and the fun run are still open at www.jersey- marathon.com. All runners are encouraged to donate to the event’s official charities Seeing is Believing and local beneficiary Jersey Hospice Care during the registration process. Entrants will also receive an email with a link to a personal or team fundraising page which you can share with family and friends and to keep track of how much you have raised.
In addition to the race on 7 October, runners are also invited to come along to the Pasta Party at 6:30pm on Saturday 6 October in the marathon village marquee. The Pasta Party is a fun way for runners and supporters to get together to “carb-load” ahead of the race. Tickets are £12 each and can be purchased at contact@jersey-marathon.com.
