Nine of Appleby’s offices have achieved Tier 1 and Tier 2 status in the latest IFLR1000 rankings.
Appleby’s offices in Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Isle of Man, Jersey, Mauritius and the Seychelles, have all achieved Tier 1 and 2 in the rankings published on 13 October.
The IFLR1000 is the guide to the world’s leading financial law firms. The rankings year-on-year are compiled by a team of dedicated specialist legal journalists and is the only publication of its kind to focus on the leading law firms for corporate finance worldwide.
Several of Appleby’s lawyers in each of its jurisdictions were recognised across different practice areas, with Jersey Partners Wendy Benjamin, James Gaudin and Andrew Weaver noted as highly regarded lawyers.
Appleby Jersey received the following commentary in the 2018 IFLR1000 guide:
“We have a long-standing relationship with Appleby as they offer a courteous, professional, efficient and informed service. We have confidence that they possess the very latest information in an increasingly complex and fast-changing world, and are therefore able to offer appropriate advice in respect of any requirements that we have.”
“Very strong and capable team across all offices we have dealt with (Jersey and Guernsey). Very commercial and take leadership of their end of a deal reporting to us on any points requiring lead counsel input. Very happy with the service they provided - they are my "go-to firm" in Jersey.”
James Gaudin
“A very helpful, responsive and experienced lawyer. Gives practical solutions and helps to drive the deal forward which is very useful especially when there are local counterparties.”
Andrew Weaver
“Commercial, responsive and a good addition to any team; my go-to person for Jersey law.”
Charith Weerasinghe
“Our product/arrangement was quite unique for him, but he quickly got to grips with the constructs in it as well as with how our business works in relation to that. I'd work with him again.”
