Jersey Hospice Care is inviting islanders to nominate heroes in our community for the chance to draw one of the winning numbers at the Million Pound Lottery draw this summer.

The Million Pound Lottery is a vital fundraiser for Hospice – helping to ensure the best possible care is available to islanders with a life-limiting illness - but also a key event where the charity gives back to the community which supports them so faithfully every year. A total of £1,300,000 is given back in ten prizes. The call for ‘Hospice Hero’ nominations aims to build on the community spirit of the Million Pound Lottery and celebrate friends, family members, colleagues or anyone who makes a special difference to islanders.

Last year, islanders voted for the late Gary Burgess as the 2021 Hospice Hero, for his inspiring media work that had been appreciated by so many during the pandemic and throughout his career.

To make a nomination, visit www.jerseyhospicecare.com/hospicehero before 5pm on Friday 1 July. From a shortlist of nominees, islanders will then be invited to vote for the Hospice Hero who will draw one of the winning numbers at the 2022 Million Pound Lottery draw.

Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive at Jersey Hospice Care, said: “It was great to recognise individuals who do so much in our community last year and we hope to have lots of nominations again in 2022. As a ball drawer for the Lottery, our Hospice Hero will be part of changing someone’s life forever.”

The Million Pound Lottery draw will take place on Friday 4 August 2022 and be streamed online. Visit the Jersey Hospice Care Facebook page for details on how to watch the draw closer to the time.
