NSPCC Jersey’s ‘Stop for Tea’ event has been hailed a resounding success after raising over £2,100 for children in the island.

The week-long fundraiser kicked off on Monday 11 June, with people across the island being encouraged to raise money for the children’s charity.

People fundraised in a variety of ways; some held tea and coffee mornings, while others sold cakes in a bid to raise money to help protect children.

So far, donations have amounted to £2,112 but with some tea parties still scheduled to go ahead, the overall total is set to be higher.

Fundraising Chair for NSPCC Jersey, Nicola Santos-Costa said: “I want to say a huge thank you from the NSPCC Jersey fundraising team to individuals and businesses who got behind our ‘Stop for Tea’ fundraiser.

“We really appreciate the support and every penny raised will be used to help keep children in Jersey safe.

“I’d also like to thank Zedra for sponsoring the event. Their generosity has helped the success of the event, and allow us to share bespoke tea towels for each tea party hosted.

“It is our plan to hold it every year so stand by for an even bigger and better version of Stop for Tea next year.”

As well as sponsoring the event, Zedra got into the swing of things with their own tea party.

Associate Director for Zedra, Juliette De Guelle said: “Zedra Jersey was delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor this event so that onward support can be provided to vulnerable children in Jersey.

“We held our own ‘Stop for Tea’ morning with our directors delivering tea, coffee and cake on trollies to staff at their desks and held an in-house raffle raising just over £600.

“We were excited to be able to take part in this event and to build on our partnership with NSPCC Jersey.”

Hepburns Insurance held a tea party last week and Managing Director Paul MacDonald said: “We firmly believe in the NSPCC’s commitment to protecting children and have supported them with past events.

“This was a good opportunity to involve all of our colleagues who baked cakes for the occasion and we hope that we have helped to make a difference to the lives of Jersey children.”
