The Parish of St Helier will bring the Roll of Honour to St Helier again this year. The digital commemoration of the soldiers who lost their lives will be in de Gruchy’s window on King Street from noon on Monday 4th November until Tuesday 12th November.
The Roll of Honour was compiled by Barrie Bertram in 2013 and commemorates:
The Boer War, 1880 – 1881; 1899 – 1902;
The Great War, 1914 – 1918; and
The Second World War, 1939 – 1945,
and also known Jersey men and women who perished in Nazi concentration camps and prisons during the German Occupation, or who died as a result of the mistreatment they received. The list details their place of death and the estimated date. Their names are inscribed on the Lighthouse Memorial adjacent to the Occupation Tapestry Gallery, New North Quay, St Helier.
The Roll of Honour will be launched in the presence of the visiting Chelsea Pensioners, representatives of the Royal British Legion, and the Constable of St Helier at noon on Monday 4th November.
The Parish is grateful to de Gruchy’s once again for the use of its arcade to display the Roll of Honour.
