For the fifth year running, the Lions have invited the Island’s primary school pupils to design the cover for the event’s daily bulletins each one of which gives the teams swimming on each of the Swimarathon’s five days.
The competition is open to all pupils and some years has attracted as many as 400 entries. This year the Lions Club has chosen five Jersey charities caring for families and the participants in the competition have been asked to draw their families – and be as creative as they like!
Each day’s winner will receive a prize of £250.00 to be donated to his or her school and a prize of art materials for themselves.
The designs will be judged by a team of design professionals led by Brian Mackenzie, studio manager at the Jersey Evening Post, with the president of the Lions Club, Lion Mike Berry. The five winning entries will be published in the Jersey Evening Postbefore the Swimarathon and the prizes will be presented at the event itself.
The principal beneficiaries of the Island’s longest running fundraising event – the 47th– are Brighter Futures, Caring Cooks, Milli’s Separated Family Centre,Mind Jerseyand Silkworth Lodge. Each charity will receive up to £10,000 from the funds raised.
