Propertymark National Association of Estate Agents held a Masterclass at the Pomme D’Or on Wednesday 30th May 2018 which was well attended by local estate agents.

The afternoon commenced with an introduction from the Regional Representative for the Channel Islands, Gill Hunt of Hunt Estates who talked about the challenges that face the property industry this year as well as a round up on the local market.

Gill stated that “as a representative for the Channel Islands, we work hard to bring information and updates to the industry and to raise standards. Over 30 individual agents attended the talk but we still have more work to do. There are currently over 40 estate agencies in the island and only 15 of which are currently members of the Jersey Estate Agents Association adhering to strict codes of conduct and membership rules.”

Kevin Lemasney of Locate Jersey spoke about the role of his team bringing high net worth residents to the Island.

Tim Hart of Appleby gave an update on the new Residential Dwelling Law.

Katie Griffin, President of Propertymark NAEA spoke about the benefits of being a member of Propertymark NAEA.

Neil Martin, a specialist from the UK spoke further on GDPR for estate agents and letting agents and gave some interesting examples of how agents can fall short of the law in these areas.

Mark Hayward, CEO Propertymark NAEA gave an enlightening talk on the 4thAnti Money Laundering Directive and informed the delegates of a new property app that had been developed for Propertymark NAEA for enhanced due diligence. The app is in the process of being rolled out and is available to all Propertymark NAEA members.

The afternoon ended with Gill Hunt thanking both the speakers and delegates for attending.

The event concluded with refreshments and networking.
