The offer of the kitchen assembled and provided by Quayside at the Home & Lifestyle Show at Beau Sejour has been taken up by local charity Headway.
Quayside offered the kitchen to any Guernsey charity that felt they would have a need for it. Russ Fossey, Managing Director at Quayside said: ‘We received 11 applications for the kitchen, all of which were very worthy and deserving organisations. After much deliberation, we decided the kitchen should go to Headway in their new premises.’
Formed eight years ago, Headway Guernsey provides support to islanders living with a brain injury and their families. There are over 60 members who use the support of Headway to rebuild their confidence, learn new skills and regain lost skills as well as support each other in a confidential environment.
Philippa Stahelin, Executive Director at Headway said: ‘We are beyond thrilled to be the very lucky recipients of this kitchen. People may not know but we are a part of the new KGV sports and community project which, when finished, will provide Headway with its first ever permanent home.
‘We will use the kitchen not only for everyday general use but also include it in a programme of independent life skills sessions which are of a huge benefit to our members looking to return to independent living following a serious brain injury. We’d like to extend an enormous thank you to Quayside for their generosity and support of our charity.’
