Great British Bake Off Winner, Candice Brown, impressed guests with her baking skills at a private event hosted by Quilter Cheviot Investment Management in Jersey’s Bohemia bar and restaurant on Wednesday night.
Quilter Cheviot arranged the Masterclass evening with Candice, and Head of International and Jersey Office, Tim Childe, giving guests a hands-on opportunity to improve their baking skills. This was followed by Megan McDonagh and Lydia Higginson (both aged 17) from the Jersey College for Girls baking a dessert. The audience tasted both creations and voted the student’s dessert as their favourite.
Tim Childe said, “It was a pleasure to host Candice Brown in Jersey, and to provide our clients with a fun evening of entertainment. Although our dessert wasn’t voted the audience’s favourite, I have certainly improved my baking skills thanks to Candice!”
The evening was hosted by BBC One’s One Show presenter Joe Crowley, he said: “The event was a huge success and great fun to host; hopefully there are now a few more budding bakers on the island!”
Earlier that day, Candice met with Donna’s Cake Decorating Supplies based in Jersey Central Market, giving her a chance to visit the local business community and pass on some words of wisdom.
Candice Brown said, “I had a wonderful time meeting the local business community and students at the Jersey College for Girls thanks to Quilter Cheviot. It was an absolute pleasure to get to meet the next generation of talented bakers, and to share my knowledge with them.”
Following a successful evening of baking, Candice hosted an interactive talk with students from the Jersey College for Girls about her journey from a school teacher to Great British Bake Off Winner, and her endeavours since the show finished.
