The St Helier seafront will become the racing ground for more than 30 Jersey businesses competing in the 2018 Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management Corporate Cup on Thursday 19 April. The first event of this popular series of 5km lunchtime races will see local firms compete for the coveted team and individual race titles. It’s not too late to enter for the 2018 series and companies are being encouraged to go online, sign up and get active.

The Corporate Cup series will commence on Thursday 19 April. The remaining races are planned for 24 May, 28 June, 19 July, 23 August and the final race on 20 September. Each race starts at the Freedom Tree alongside the Radisson Hotel and finishes at Les Jardins de la Mer.

Grahame Lovett, CEO Offshore at Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management, commented: “As an organisation, we are committed to encouraging health and wellbeing within the workplace and these lunchtime races give local runners an opportunity to take a break from their working day, get away from the desk and take part in a fun and healthy exercise with their co-workers and peers.  As part of our #cando campaign our message is that anyone and everyone can take part in these races and we hope to see as many people as possible taking up the challenge.”

The race series is co-ordinated by Digby Ellis-Brecknell of ‘Run Jersey’.  He is keen to welcome runners of all abilities and from all types of businesses, not just professional services, to the 2018 races.  “Everyone #cando it with this fun, inclusive event.  There is no time cut off so if people want to race, jog, walk or crawl everyone will be made welcome as long as they get back to work in time!”

As well as getting active, runners will be doing good.  A percentage of entry fees will once again be donated to the Jersey Sports Association for the Disabled (JSAD).
