Local healthcare insurance broker, Rossborough Healthcare, is partnering with local medical professionals and charities to provide a day of free health checks for Jersey residents. Rossborough Healthcare’s Free Health Check Day will take place on Saturday 7th June at the Radisson Blu hotel, focussing on three key health issues that affect the Jersey community – diabetes, heart conditions and melanoma.
The free event is open to all islanders and people who sign up will be provided with appropriate tests for each of the three health risks in a professional and confidential environment.
Experienced, qualified medical professionals from The Island Medical Centre and Island Pharmacy will conduct the various tests, and the associated charities and health organisations will also be on hand to offer advice and support to anyone attending the event.
Each consultation will take approximately 10 minutes, during which time a health professional will review a pre-completed health questionnaire and complete the various health checks. Individuals will then be invited to discuss any queries that arise from the tests in a confidential meeting with a qualified GP or nurse.
Three leading Jersey health charities, Diabetes Jersey, Jersey Heart Support Group and Donna Annand Melanoma Charity, will be present on the day to provide support and advice to those taking part.
The event is being sponsored by AXA-PPP International, Aviva and Simplyhealth, three of the island’s most established providers of private medical insurance policies, and will be supported by the Island Medical Centre and Island Pharmacy.
In addition, representatives from WellBeing World will be on hand to offer lifestyle and nutritional advice to those in attendance.
‘Health checks allow individuals to gain a detailed picture of their overall health and can, in some cases, lead to early detection and treatment plans for people diagnosed with illnesses. Encouraging people to take charge of their personal health is something we at Rossborough Healthcare feel passionate about and hopefully this event will inspire more people to take a proactive approach in the way they manage their health,’ said Richard Clarke, Manager at Rossborough Healthcare.
Individuals wishing to attend the event must complete a simple pre-registration for a 30-minute appointment slot on the Rossborough Healthcare website. These slots will be available from 08.30 – 12.00 and 13.30 – 17.30. Islanders can also book multiple slots for family members, but event organisers do require one registration per individual (Regrettably, the event will not be open to anyone under the age of 18).
To provide an accurate consultation, attendees will also be asked to fill in a basic health questionnaire during pre-registration to bring along to their designated appointments.
