The Rotary Club of Jersey has responded by providing emergency funding support for those affected by the devastating impact of Hurricane Irma with over £3,600 of funds already committed to providing support for the immediate first response relief aid in the region.

The Jersey club has reacted by providing £2,600 for the purchase of 17 Water Survival Box’s in addition to making a contribution of £1,000 to the Bailiffs Emergency Relief Fund.

Water Survival Boxes are designed to support families who have lost their homes and all their possessions following natural or man-made disasters with the 1st priority being the provision of purified clean drinking water to protect against water-borne disease.

Commenting of the support the President of the Rotary Club of Jersey Geoff Shepherd said “The provision of clean, fresh drinking water is essential as a first response for those who have lost access the this most vital commodity and the £150 cost of each box covers the cost of the water box, water purification kit, all contents and air freight to the disaster area”.

The Water Survival Box project is a Rotary supported initiative who have already arranged for over 500 boxes to be sent to those affected in the region.
