RBS International has appointed Mark Crathern to head up NatWest Trustee and Depository Services, (NatWest TDS) and RBS International Depositary Services, as part of the Bank’s Institutional Banking Division.

Mark, who has a 30 year career in banking, was formerly Managing Director, Global Head, Corporate Trust & Loan Agency (CTLA) and a member of the Executive Committee at HSBC Securities Services.  During his career, he helped to build the bank’s Issuer Services business accumulating US$1.7 trillion in assets under management, across 13 markets around the world. Prior to that, Mark held a number of senior posts within HSBC Securities Services division.

Earlier this year RBS International launched its new vision to ‘become a bank that’s easy to deal with’ and conducted a review of how its business was organised in each jurisdiction. As a result a new Institutional Banking Division was created which includes Funds Banking, Financial & Corporate Service providers, Real Estate Finance, NatWest Trust and Depository Services and Luxembourg Depository Services.

Welcoming him to his new role, Andrew McLaughlin, ceo RBS International, said:

‘Mark’s is one of a series of new leadership appointments we have made as a result of our review and we are delighted to have recruited such an experienced figure from the global banking industry.  His track record in both leading and growing institutional banking business and meeting the needs of customers, combined with his expertise in securities services and capital markets, will give further impetus to our NatWest TDS business and its growth plans.’
