The Covid pandemic has changed the way we work in so many ways, including how we dress. While we embraced working from home, we all relaxed how we dressed for work, and it seems the majority of us really enjoyed wearing comfortable clothing such as joggers, t-shirts, slippers and even onesies!
With employees returning to working in the office, should smart office attire be a thing of the past and be replaced with smart-causal or even active workwear?
Is it time to say good bye to wearing suits, ties, cufflinks and high-heels and refresh our wardrobes with t-shirts, loose trousers, collarless shirts and long shorts? Dressing for style rather than comfort could be a thing of the past!
Do you think that changing the way that we dress for the office will have an impact on productivity, employee wellbeing or any other factors? Perhaps ‘dress-for-your-day’ is the best policy, but would all employees approach this in the same way?
The pandemic has fundamentally changed how we engage with workwear, I’ve certainly relaxed my dress sense since being back in the office, by ditching the suit and smart handbag, and even wearing less make up! I am not ready to permanently ditch my collection of handbags just yet, but the majority of my suits and my husband’s ties have already gone to the charity shop!
What’s your take on the future of work attire, are you eager to ditch wearing a suit? Should retailers be getting ready for an influx of shoppers seeking a new wardrobe of work-leisure wear? Not sure about anyone else, but my pre-covid clothing is a little tighter than it was, so a shopping trip is likely regardless!
