Appleby’s Jersey office has retained its ranking in seven areas and has increased its ranking in Investment Funds in the latest edition of the Legal 500 UK Guide.
The 2018 edition of the respected Legal 500 UK Guide also highlights six Appleby lawyers as ”Leading individuals” in these key business areas, with Counsel, Jared Dann noted as a “Next generation lawyer” for his Dispute Resolution work.
The Legal 500 is viewed as a leading guide to outstanding law firms and lawyers, with rankings based on feedback from 250,000 in-house peers, client feedback and independent assessment of law firms’ deals and confidential matters. It is updated annually, and inclusion is earned solely on merit.

Appleby’s Jersey office received Tier 1 ranking in Commercial Property, being described as ‘providing prompt responses and having a great depth of knowledge’. Partner Tim Hart received individual recognition as a leading individual and was praised for being ‘very knowledgeable’.
They also received Tier 2 ranking in Banking and Finance, being described as ‘strong and trusted’ with reference to “highly competent and responsive attorneys who are very experienced in fund finance”. Jersey Office Managing Partner Wendy Benjamin was recognised as a leading individual in this area.
Other Tier 2 rankings include Corporate and Commercial, Dispute Resolution, Private Client Trust and Tax, Structured Finance and Securitisation and Investment Funds. Partners Fraser Robertson and Michael Cushing were noted as leading individuals in Dispute Resolution. David Dorgan also noted in the private Client Trusts and Tax sector and Andrew Weaver was also noted in the Investment Funds sector.
As the only offshore law firm with a presence in all three Crown Dependencies, Appleby also received notable rankings for their Guernsey and Isle of Man offices, with Appleby Isle of Man named as “the go-to firm on the Isle of Man”, having achieved Top Tier ranking in 7 out of 9 practice areas.
