After two successful years in Guernsey, Skipton International has launched its “Purple Monday” campaign in Jersey; installing uplifting signs around St Helier, islanders will see short inspirational quotes positioned in high footfall areas visible for one day only (16 January 2023).

The campaign “Purple Monday” derives from “Blue Monday” and is renamed to link to the iconic Skipton International brand. “Blue Monday” is the date which is supposedly the most depressing day of the year. It falls on the third Monday of January, when the weather is likely to be dark and grey, it's still a long way to pay day, post-Christmas blues have set in, and New Year’s resolutions may have already failed.

Lorraine Mclean, Mortgage Sales Manager at Skipton International in Waterloo Street was keen to see this campaign introduced in Jersey:

“As a mental health first aider, I know that mental health continues to be vital throughout the year and support is always needed. January can be a particularly difficult time. At Skipton we are passionate about supporting our community with their mental and physical wellbeing and by rebranding this day in January, we hope to bring some positivity and brightness to our island and ultimately let people know they are not alone.

“I am very proud to work for a company that understands the value of good mental health, and excited to finally see this campaign that spread so much joy in Guernsey come to Jersey.”

The artwork and messages for the 35 signs was designed by Guernsey artist Bekah Johnston and mental health campaigner Siân Jones, who launched the successful campaign ‘Notes to Islanders’.
