Skipton International is proud to reveal that its Skipton Community Fund has now assisted local charities and community organisations with financial support exceeding the £100,000 milestone.

The Community Fund was established just over three years ago as a way of helping lesser-known charities and not-for-profit groups access funding that would make a big difference to their projects and to the wider community in Jersey. To date the Fund has helped 117 projects across the Channel Islands with an annual pot of £30,000, plus an unprecedented additional sum of £10,000 which was given to those organisations most impacted during the Covid pandemic.

Lorraine McLean, Mortgage Sales Manager for Skipton International, said: “The Skipton Community Fund has been a staggering success is so many ways, not just in assisting these groups and organisations to carry out their projects, but allowing us to meet like-minded people who want to protect and enrich our unique way of life in the Channel Islands.

“The £100,000 which has been donated to date will have reached so many people, making a huge difference to charities, those in need and to protecting our environment. We hope the Fund has demonstrated to others how easy it is to make a big difference starting with small steps and that more will join us on this journey of giving back.”

Recently the Skipton Community Fund has supported the charity Look Good Feel Better with their plan to run workshops in Jersey and Guernsey to increase the confidence of those who are undergoing treatment for cancer. It has also assisted Family First, a new charity which supports families whose children need to travel off island for medical treatment. With the money from the Community Fund, Family First was able to raise awareness of its services, producing leaflets, stickers and increasing advertising on social media channels.

Cheryl Dolbel from Family First said: “As a new charity, assistance from organisations such as Skipton is vital and has ensured we can get the support to those who need it the most. With so many changes to travel due to the Covid pandemic the support we provide to families has increased and our aim is to spread the word as widely as possible so we can help as many families as possible.”

The Skipton Community Fund is open to applications for grants up to £1,500 per project. Further details and the full application process can be found online at www.skiptoninternational.com/skipton-community-fund
