For the past nine years, the Vistra Jersey Kids’ Triathlon has helped raise funds and awareness for Blood Cancer UK – Jersey Branch. The amazing level of funds raised through the event has contributed significantly to creating a current lifetime total of over £1 million raised for the charity. In 2021, the Vistra Jersey Kids’ Triathlon raised over £15,000 for Blood Cancer UK – Jersey Branch and the event aims to raise £18,000 in 2022.

Chris Rowland, the Chairman of Blood Cancer UK – Jersey Branch commented “Blood Cancer UK - Jersey Branch are delighted to be holding yet another Kids Triathlon this year with the ongoing support of Vistra as our main sponsor and of the team at 3D Events. The funds raised at this unique event in the Channel Islands all go to the charity to help them continue their research into all Blood Cancers. This research recently has been having some amazing results in finding new and much less intrusive treatment for many patients and of course this benefits those Islanders that are receiving treatment here and in the UK. There are on average just over 100 patients a year diagnosed with a Blood Cancer in Jersey alone. I am forever grateful for the generosity of our sponsors, Vistra and of those who help provide the prizes given to the children who have raised the most. Also, to 3D Events whose help and advice in promoting and setting up the event are invaluable as is David Holmes who organises and prepares the course for all ages and also all our volunteer marshals.”

The Vistra Jersey Kids’ Triathlon is a fun, non-competitive triathlon, open to children of all abilities aged between 6 and 13 (years 2 – 8). The 2022 event is taking place on Saturday 11 June at Les Quennevais Sports Centre. There are no winners or losers, just a fantastic number of special achievers, who are supported by expert volunteers from the Jersey Junior Tri Stars Club, Jersey Swimming Club, Jersey Cycling Association Youth Academy and Jersey Park Run.

Clive Wright, the Managing Director of Vistra Channel Islands commented “We are proud to again be the named sponsor of the Jersey Kids’ Triathlon in aid of Blood Cancer UK – Jersey Branch as part of our commitment to our local community. Not only is this a great cause, it is a perfect opportunity for kids to engage in sports in a fun and non-competitive environment, cheered on by their friends and family. We look forward to another successful event whilst raising awareness and funds for Blood Cancer UK – Jersey Branch to support their invaluable research and support with blood cancer.”

Parents and guardians can find out more about the event and register their children here: jerseykidstriathlon.com. Online registration will remain open until Wednesday 8 June at 3pm, but we highly recommend registering before this date to avoid disappointment. Organisers would like to take this opportunity to wish all the young triathletes’ good luck with the triathlon and to say a massive thank you for their amazing fundraising efforts! We look forward to seeing everyone on June 11th at Les Quennevais.
