Warning to car owners

MEDIA RELEASE: The views expressed in this article are those of the author and not Bailiwick Express, and the text is reproduced exactly as supplied to us

Police are warning car owners NOT to leave their car keys in the ignition – following two car thefts overnight. This morning police have received reports of two incidents to TADA (Taking and Driving Away) where the keys were left in the ignition.

In both cases the cars have been returned to the addresses in Vallee des Vaux and Highfield Country Apartments however some damage has been caused to both cars.

Both incidents are currently under investigation.

Inspector Sian Gidley said: "These are both offences which may have been avoided if the keys had not been left in the ignition and in both cases the owners now have to deal with the fact their insurance could be void because the car was insecure.

"We would ask people to secure their property and not make life easy for thieves."

If anyone has any details of these incidents, which both occurred overnight, please contact police on 612612 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
